Any news on Skylake pentiums & core i3's??

Is there any information out there on the Skylake pentiums or core i3's?

Will they still be dual cores? Will the pentiums at least have hyper-threading?

What is their TDP? How much will they cost? Same $50-$70 as current pentiums? or more?

So far all the info is revolving around the more expensive quad-cores.

If anyone knows about this or can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

I hope that G4520 continues the tradition of hyperthreaded Pentiums that began with Broadwell 3825U (15W 1.9 Ghz 2C/4T) and also occurred with Skylake 4405U (15W 2.1 Ghz 2C/4T).

P.S. Forgot to mention, before the client Pentium 2C/4T processors I mentioned above there were some embedded Pentium dual core processors with hyperthreading ---> pentium B915C and B925C.

Dont think so, anyway Skylake Pentium and Celeron are petty much confirmed.

What we cant be sure is about the IGP, there is a GT1 and GT1.5 listed for dual cores.

I think now i get it dual core CPUs with HT have the GT1.5, and the dual cores whiout HT GT1....

mmm interesting, but since its a U version, it may be mobile only.

Link for that info?

I've been under the impression (and I might be wrong) that Celeron gets GT1, Pentium gets GT 1.5 and Core i3 gets GT2.

Well, Pentium 4405U is GT1.5 (18EU) and has HT.

And Celeron 3955U whiout HT is still GT1 with 12EU.

But since that is U line we cant be sure about what gona happen in desktop, the naming is OK since in U both GT1 and GT1.5 are called 510.

Still in the driver inf there is a desktop GT1.5 called HD 530 in line with GT2... so there is some hopes, still, they may call it I3 and still going no HT/GT1 on Celeron/Pentium

Wonder if we'll get another unlocked Pentium. I'm inclined to think there being a slightly better chance of an unlocked i3 vs a Pentium. An unlocked i3 would be absolutely killer, though Hyperthreading may dangerously close the gap between it and lesser i5s.

I think the unlocked Pentium was a one time deal mainly to annoy AMD. Don't think you will see one or an unlocked i3. The 65W TDP is a little strange though given that the dual cores were tops at 54W on Haswell and that was at 3.9 Ghz.

That's what I wonder about too, if Skylake is more "energy efficient" then why are we hearing numbers thrown out in the 65w range??

I was under the impression that Pentiums and Core i3's "sip on power" like a honda sips on gas, but maybe they going a different direction this time? Maybe it has something to do with the better/faster on-chip graphics?

The price is something that's really been on my mind too, I really hope they price these in the same affordable $50-$70 range. What has me worried is seeing the recently launched Core i5 and Core i7 retailing for much higher than usual. Past gen Core i5's sold for $180-$200, but now it seems they jacked up the price to $250-ish. I hope the Pentiums stay affordable.

New process possibly giving a lot of lesser silicone compared to the more mature 22 nm process. Perhaps it's the majority of the good silicone going into mobile and the i3s are what's left.
