Bringing some life back into this thread...

Microsoft Surface Windows RT tablet reportedly priced at just $199
If this is true, I'm buying TWO. Seriously.

$199 would be amazing. That means it would be in direct competition with the Nexus 7 8GB... and as good as the Nexus 7 is I think I'd rather have the Surface RT.

I'm getting one if it's a little more expensive at $300, or the Pro if it's $800 and decent hardware. I'm going all out with the Win 8 transition: getting a tablet, a couple copies of Win 8 (or renewing TechNet sub), and switching to WP8 with a Lumia or Samsung Ativ S. I really like the direction Microsoft is heading in.

I'm pretty sold with the mobile devices. I do, however, hate Windows 8 on the desktop. That may wait...

On the pricing front, Samsung has already announced an x86 Win8 tablet with 11.6" screen and 64GB flash for 650, so I expect WinRT tabs will be well under that.

At $200 people will probably be fighting over them... Remember the touchpad?

Remember it well, I was a part of the insanity. Not a bad device - I have ICS on mine - oveclocked it does OK. Not as nice as the wifes Ipad but OK.

That said, I'm getting a W8 tablet no matter what the price (hoping for $200 but not expecting it). I use office extensively - it will be nice not to have to use an intermediate office program when I am out of town on business. Should probably just get a new laptop (old one died ), but I really like the tablet format.

If I can get OneNote + pen input (yes, I know this is already possible with actual tablet PC's), then I'm going to start drooling. Like now.
