Any news on a revised version of Cooler Master's Cosmos?

I remember reading during the summer that there would be a aluminum version of the case shortly after the first version is released. See no signs of it. I'm not too concerned about weight but I'm hoping something is done about the fact that the hard drives are not really getting any cooling

I've seen the vent but does it have enough space for one and is it set up for one? A lot of the comments I've read mention how there is lack of hard drive cooling in the case - I would think no one would bother mentioning if a fan can be added very easily

A lot of these fan boy reviewers have very little imagination or ingenuity - they miss a lot of potentials... It may not be rigged for a fan as it comes but it sure looks like there is plenty of room to put one without much effort. Only a modest breeze is necessary for cooling HDDs. Has it been shown that the HDDs get overly warm with the standard cooling scheme (Air drawn past the HDDs by the top fans and or convection)?

But without me actually cutting into something? If there's a vent there, I would think Cooler Master would have made hooks for the fan. Can someone confirm?

Never seen the zip tie fan mount method? Here's one side of the orange fan: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article254-page2.html , and here's the other: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article254-page3.html of one way - don't need any special drilled holes, any available hole will do... 😉 I use the loop method, you bend the zip tie in the middle and thread it thru the hole or you can put it up thru then back down thru if you want (would be from the outside in these pix), put some kind of pin thru the zip loop on the far side (I like safety pins as they can't fall out but anything that's handy like paper clips will do), put the end out thru the head lock and cinch it up. Voila! Use a washer like this fellow did if the holes in the case are too big to retain the heads of the ties. Cheap and simple. The fellow in the article apparently used the head of another zip tie to lock it in, but that's a waste of a perfectly good tie in my book. He also used rubber grommets, but that's a waste on Nexus and similar quiet fans too, IMO, but you know those SPCR Noize Nutz. You could also put one tie up thru and another down thru - sort of a zip-tie soixante neuf... 😉 Whatever floats your boat.

You can get from the pic what you want to get. We'll have to wait until someone actually tests how well the convection cooling works. There are rumors of an all aluminum version, but IDK if any other changes will be made. I don't have specific hands-on with the Cosmos, but from what I've seen, it wouldn't be hard to provide some extra cooling to the HDDs with little in the way of drilling or cutting.

Just a FYI, CompUSA has this case on sale this week for $149.9 no rebates....

Ooooh i wonder what the business discount is, I got an hx620 for like $150 after tax the other day with it 🙂
Thanks!

when I first saw pictures of this case on the net months ago I thought it looked nice. Fry's has one sitting out and when I saw it in person I had to really fight to keep from buying it. I must have seen 5 or 6 guys just stop and stare at it. I really want this case, I would love an aluminum version but with no word from Coolermaster I don't see there being one anytime soon.

If I wait for it it will probably never come out, but if I buy this one the aluminum one will probably come out 3 weeks later haha.

lol, I was probably one of those guys...

I saw one on display at the Portland Frys and REALLY liked the looks... but it was out of stock at the time. While I was there a week or two later, they had some stock come in, and I picked one up on impulse...

After I got home, my weak willed rational self finally awoke and alas I took it back before I opened it... just couldn't justify the money at this time... I also believe there will be some further enhancements on the original design at some point... very nice case though, and I will eventually pick one up.

the funniest thing I saw was a man walking with his daughter, I've seen children a million times walking with their parents stop in their tracks to check something that caught their eye out. And the parent keeps on walking. I saw the oppisit at Frys, dad and lil girl walking he sees the Cosmos and stops dead to gawk on it. The daughter had to come back to get him. I was about 2 seconds away from getting one today, like you I said "too much money!" and resisted. Then I headed to BB where I bought a 16 gig iPod Touch haha go figure. probably returning it tomorrow so I can get the Cosmos. There's just too much cool shit out right now 🙁
