Intel has a new line of CPUs coming out in a few months that will bring with them a socket change, so the future CPUs issue is really moot.

Do you currently own the 2500K? If so, how about giving us the rest of your system specs?

No reason to spend that much on a motherboard. It looks like you'd be fine with a decent board in the $90-120 range like the AsRock Z77 Pro3, or the Extreme4 if you can find a deal on it.

Out of curiosity, what happened to your old motherboard?

Flashed BIOS--Claimed it was sucessful--rebooted and would not boot into windows--Swapped out Memory and Puff--Smell of Burning component--Dead--

Has not happened in 20 years of Computer Building--First time for everything!! :)

Both of those are way too expensive unless there is some requirement that we don't know about. Since 1155 is on the way out, I would grab something inexpensive like the Biostar TZ77B for $100 and enjoy the free memory upgrade.
