I have had the popular Fat Tire several times and really enjoyed it, but I never went out of my way to buy it, nor do I drink it regularly. But tonight, on a whim, I picked up the New Belgium Folly Pack.

It included 5 types of their beers, and I am really impressed with the flavors and variety. Here's a mini review of the beers included:

Ranger: I started the night out with this one. It really had an explosion of flavors...bitter, sweet, and heavy all at the same time. Almost overpowering for me, and reminded me of some poor IPA's I have had. I actually didn't care for this one too much, and was happy to see only 2 included in the case.

Fat Tire: Great beer, with a nice rich taste and full body, as many probably already know!

Trippel: The label on this one says "Brewed With Coriander", and it does, indeed, have that herbal sweet taste. It is a crisp, lighter beer full of flavor. I really enjoyed this one.

Springboard: This was my favorite of the group. I really loved this one! and after a little research, I am sorry to see it is not easily available. This is one of their "revival" beers that was originally released ~2007. It is no longer produced, save for limited production only found in this variety pack. Clean, crisp, and refreshing, this beer does not disappoint for even the pickiest of beer drinkers.

1554: I am finishing off the night with this one. 10 beers down and 2 to go, this one is really topping the night off! It has a dark, rich, filling flavor that reminds me of hints of cocoa, coffee, and chocolate. I am really liking it at this point in time. I can see 1554 as being an excellent desert beer.

I know New Belgium has much more variety than what I have sampled tonight, so I would love to hear other's reviews and experiences with New Belgium beers:thumbsup:. Please share!

Not my favorite set of beers, though I have a lot of respect for them as a company. Trippel is my favorite--have to admit I hated it at first, it had this weird chemical taste (I think that must have been the coriander), but it grew on me and I think they did really well with the style (trappist trippels are my favorite beers).

I like any of the lighter beers they make. Everything else, like 1554 and Fat Tire, are too malty for me. Ranger as you say is just overdone with the hops.

Wish more companies would do a folly pack though. Even though they aren't my favorite I still buy these just cause its nice to have a variety.
