Any Netware 5/6 admins here?

Linflas

I started working with LANs using Netware 3.1x but have pretty much been immersed in MS since 1996. As part of a new job I am going to start working with Netware 5 and 6 and they are going to send me to training on it. After the training I will have 6 months to take the CNA exam so I am kind of curious how the Netware exams compare to the MS cert exams. If I have a decent training class should I have enough to pass that exam after some book time?

Yes, they're over in the CORRECT FORUM. :|

On a side note, talk to GeekDrew. He's a netware master.

Jesus always-on-the-rag-boy he was asking a simple question regarding exams.

Sorry I pissed in your Wheaties, as minendo said I was really just asking a general question about the exams and not really expecting to get into any tech details. Thanks for the tip regarding GeekDrew though. :cookie:

I am one...haven't taken any of the testing though. Kinda fell into the stuff and did a buttload of on the job training. Have been working with this crap since 4.11 days.

As for the cert tests, We do have 1 CNE on staff. He normally studies up for a few weeks and blows through the test. We had another one fail it the first time around, but that was the 5.1 test. I haven't taken it due to money restrictions (my company pays 0% tuition or training).

Say what you want about Novell, Netware thru 4 is VERY stable.

I worked on some servers that had uptimes measured in years if they had a UPS.

We had a 3.12 server where I work now that always showed up on the network but no one really knew whose server it was. Right before Y2K when everybody in Federal agencies were running around like chickens with their heads cut off someone finally found this server stashed in a closet under a back stairway hooked to a UPS. The thing had been up for over 3 years without a reboot.
