Any Negatives If Using Outlook.com Mailbox?

Historically, I have used my cable provider's mailbox services (pop3/smtp). I am about to switch to a different provider and have decided it is time to start using a web-based mailbox for at least some of my mail. I use the Outlook client (presently 2010) on a single desktop. I prefer it to the various web mail systems.

I already have an Outlook.com mailbox and it integrates perfectly with Outlook (big surprise --- given MS provides both). It uses MAPI rather than pop3.

Any Outlook.com +'s or -'s versus Gmail or Yahoo? Any real standout product?

I believe that outlook.com automatically sorts out "clutter" email i.e. mailing lists and less important email so that is nice.
Also, I don't believe they scan your email for advertising like google does. So if I were picking a new webmail account now I'd probably go with outlook.com over gmail or yahoo.

I've been using outlook.com for one of my address for quite a while, no issues. I also use Outlook 2010 and 2013 as a clients, although mine are set up as pop3.

Thanks for the responses. I guess I will stick with Outlook.com

WilliamM2,
Why did you select pop3? I ran Microsoft's Outlook Connector and it set up the mailbox as MAPI. Is one protocol better than the other or are they just different?
