Its been sitting on my shelf for a while now...and I need to get around to playing it this weekend. Are there any mods that make the experience better? Or a must have gameplay change mod??

50% (or was it 70%?) less weapon/armor wear mod is a good one IMO. Probably cheating a bit, but not having to repair your shit after every second gunfight makes the game more fun. And fun is what matters.

Just beat the game, level 20, most of the map explored and most secret weapons gotten... my weapons are almost all at 80% durability or better (90 repair skill) and I didn't use nor did I have to use a durability mod. Just play the game, explore and find stuff, level, and you wont need that durability mod. The people who whine about losing durability too quickly must not be exploring the gameworld and finding extra ammo and weapons to keep their weapons in top top shape, or using any strategy such as to use a variety of weapons. It was never an issue for me in the slightest except when I first found the chinese assault rifle (but not for long). Someone posted a chat ui improvement mod earlier, I'd grab that and give it a go, and keep the cheats to the whiners.

Finding shit is easy. Using that annoying UI to navigate to what you want to repair is not fun though.

I haven't beaten the game yet, but I haven't found anything lacking that needed a mod.

I was annoyed that regular power armor hurts agility, but Tesla Armor does not. Also, by the time you get power armor you're deadly enough that one less VATS shot doesn't matter much (and you can take Action Boy perk to get back the APs).

A friendly UI tip I didn't find til late in the game is you can use f1/f2/f3 from the main game screen to bring up the three main pages of the pipboy, rather than using tab and clicking on which one you want. Thought I'd throw that out there

Never bothered with that armor. I prefer the Rangers armor.

Any sort of weight mod. Going back and forth between town and dungeon 4 times just to haul the loot out is annoying. It wasnt fun in Oblivion and it sucks worse in Fallout 3.

I wish there was a mod that added depth, interesting gameplay, and made the game treat me as though I have an IQ above 30.

It's still better than in Fallout 1 and 2 where most weapons were worth tons of money and you felt bad leaving them sitting around instead of picking them up. I'd be walking around with six assault rifles, five combat shotguns, a dozen assorted 10mm and .44 pistols, and often several sets of armor as well. It weighed a ton and shop owners didn't even have enough money and supplies to trade for, and there wasn't any place to put it that had an unlimited capacity (the car trunk in FO2 had a weight limit). So it's still annoying in FO3, but it's not as bad as in the previous games.

whoa! thanks! that will definitely come in handy!

The mods I am using,

. carry more weight
. OLD music from F1 and F2!!!

also, play the game in hard or very hard, normal is waaay too easy.

Need to slow down XP, I've been at level 20 for awhile, and I haven't proceeded too far into the main quest.

The MTUI mod is completely necessary. It makes the text in the pipboy and in dialog boxes a bit smaller, and also increases the size of the box theyre in.
