any musicians or accordion players?

Whats a good accordion to look out for? My father's 78th b-day is coming up and me and my sis are going to purchase an accordion (hopefully) for him at a local music shop. I would think a treble one would be better over a bass. He used to play accordion when he was younger.

I'm kinda set on price (less than $200 hopefully), but I just dont know what brand to look out for; this music shop kinda specializes in used gear.

I've checked ebay and some of the accordions are expensive!

Thanks in advance and yeah, sorry I haven't been posting much lately on ATOT....just been sorta busy lately.

You should learn to play, too. There are not enough serious accordion players in the world. There's more to accordion than just polka.

hmmm well thanks i guess for the help so far. I guess we have no accordion players in here. I think its a great instrument, so many ways to use it in music; think "belle" in jack johnson's latest cd, awesome song.

Guitar is nice, and that's what I'm trying to learn right now, but so is everyone else.

Hohner, maybe?

looks like hohner make some nice accordions...now i just need to find out if my father played button accordion or piano accordion, and bass or treble.

welp no accordion this year or for right now. A new Hohner 120 bass costs upwards of $3000. Unless i can get one used, i may have to go with a 40 bass, or at least something smaller than a 120. Hohner is the Ferrari of accordions.
