Something like this

Would want something a little cheaper.

Needs to support say 4 drives. PATA drives preferably.

I do remote back-ups of a server at work and need something I can load some drives in. Doesn't need to be RAID as I have an array manager that will take care of redundancy.

I haven't really seen anything other than that one. There anything else around that's not real expensive (seen some that are several hundred bucks).

I haven't seen anything cheaper. I've owned a 2 bay 3½" Firewire and currently own a 2 bay 5¼" Firewire and a few single drive USB and USB/Firewire combos. That's the cheapest for a four drive I've seen.

My Firewire drives seem faster, but they can be fiddly at times - if I shut it off sometimes Windows doesn't find it until after a reboot. However, multi GB transfers are definately quicker.

Not sure if a few bucks will make a difference but they are Available at Frys.

Depending on shipping, tax and how you feel about rebates, you may save $20.
