while going down hill i hit a curved section and took the line wrong...i fell butt first and pretty much ripped up my left cheek. had to sit on the right cheek for awhile. hehehe.

another time, in college i was riding along a cliffside trail, hit a trench, fire tire got caught, and next time i knew i was looking down the edge of a 100 foot drop.

oh i have two bikes both pretty old 97 cannondale f500 hardtail, and a 97 ground control full sus. can't post pics cause pics.bbzzdd seems to be down.

There are plenty of other pic hosting sites available. See sig.:)

I've got a fairly new GT Aggressor, but haven't really had the time to get out riding.

I was riding a local trail here that is short but really steep. Holding both brakes will not stop you. I was going down and was going to fast. At the end of the trail it pops up about 8ft. I hit that going pretty fast and flew about 15ft. I wasn't prepare for it so I was to far forward. I hit, my front shock compressed and then popped me over the front handle bars. I landed on a really rough pavement and slid for a few feet. Cut up my hand pretty good and had a bad case of road rash for a while.

Other than that I have only endo'ed a couple of times but they weren't to bad. BTW I have 03 Specialized Rockhopper.

nice bike...are you using xt's? i need to ugrade all my components. the cannondale gear just sucks big time all mostly deore lx components... the specialized is a little better w/ xt's.

been thinking about upgrading but its so much easier to just buy a newer bike, or a newer used bike. i'm not too hardcore, dont' ride comps.

I have a 98' Specialized Rockhopper FX, with T3 Rockshocks. You know they dont even make my bike anymore?

Anyways, my most exciting accident was about six months ago. There is a very technical trail that has a steep slope on one side. Its close to a dropoff but not quite. Anyways, once, I bunny hopped over a set of rocks only to meet the mother of all ditches on the other side, my tire hit it and slipped sideways, going at a ninety degree angle. I flipped over my bike and faceplanted on the dirt. My bike came backaround and landed on top of me. The trail was quite steep so I kept sliding, and I slid right off the trail. I continued my slow slide down the mountain, bike and all, until i reached about midway and came to a stop. It was exciting.

I was gunning down a local hill a few years back. I went around a corner, and my tire hit some mud in a rut. The bike threw me off, and I fell off the cliff into nettle's. My skin burned for 5 days. My arms felt like there were millions of bee's in them. I have never been back. Nettle's are soooo painful:|

I think my best story was when I was ripping down a fire road up in north GA, came around a blind corner and right into a big group of wild turkeys. All the noise and flying wings (those damn things are big) of them suddenly taking off scared me so bad that I flew off the side of the road and crashed. :p

I am still practicing the local messa since I am a beginner.

Anyway, first time I go, I am in the wrong gearing and I am using clipless pedals. I make it up maybe 1/5 of the hill and then just stall. I cannot pedal anymore and I cannot bail in time, so I take good fall. Scraped up both arms and elbows and bruise on my thigh :(

Second time I went, I couldn't make it up either.

Go to my homepage to see my bike!

How much do those run?

My first accident happen this last Sunday. Going down the path, picking up speed. So I switched to a higher gear and pedal harder. I knew a small hop was coming. I hit the hop and got some air, but I landed sideways. I felt my shoulder hit the ground, then my visor crack, and then my face/head hit next thing. I must of black out cause next thing I know I was standing up and dusting myself off. I had Camel back so I washed out the wounds off my shoulder, knee, wrist, finger, and elbows. I look at my helmet, and it was cracked from the rim to center. Boy I was dam lucky.

Anywhere from maybe $100 on up. Depends on the construction, type of resistance unit, etc.

I have one, but I reserve it for the absolute crappiest weather only. I'd rather be outside unless it's sleeting or something. ;)

Can anyone explain how it attaches to the rear wheel? I have seen a handful of pictures but still cannot figure it out. I mean you still keep your wheels on and everything like normal...so what is it attaching to? Seems like the center of the wheel. It has it's own quick release lever but won't that get in the way of the one that is already on the wheel? Can someone find me a closeup picture?

I freeride so accidents are a regular occurrence. Anyhoo the most interesting one I had this year happened a few weeks ago.

I was riding on a wooden structure over a 15 foot deep ravine on the North Shore of Vancouver. Just as I started to enter it instead of looking straight ahead like I should have I looked down into the ravine. Well next thing I knew I was riding right off the thing. Luckily I was able to grab a tree as I went off the thing so only my bike fell.

The one I got was $139, but you need to realize it is the one that works off the rim, not the roller type. The roller trainers are much cheaper.

I was riding at Laguna Woods in southern Orange County. There was a hill that 4 of us wanted to go up, but it was really steep. My brother went up before us and I radioed how much further. He says: "It just keeps going up." So we head down the hill, but I was going too fast. I was pumping my brakes (old school padded brakes, not the disc ones), but wasn't slowing down enough. I hit a crevace, flipped over my bike, and made a huge gash on my arm.

Pretty crazy.

Sure don't ask how I was. :frown:

I was ok. :D

The bike was fine also but freeride bikers are built to take that sort of abuse
