Wow, being a noobie to this forum, it has turned into a ASUS bit*h session! ;)

Anybody out there own the MSI K8N Neo2-Platinum nForce-3?

What are your personal thoughts on this mobo.

We need some more discussion in here besides ASUS moaning and groaning! :)

I was lazy, after going manually through 4 pages and every word was ASUS this ASUS that, didn't consider using the search.

I just don't see people posting as frequent issues with the MSI as with the ASUS. As has been pointed out before, more people using ASUS. But still seems to be ALOT issues with the ASUS mobo.

I like mine a lot so far, visually appealing, good amount of adjustablity and options in bios, setup was a breeze with the latest bios on it!

There have been some issues in past with lots of DOA or 1-2 day old boards dying, but I would say they are past that.

Thats because 1. The Asus SLI board is the hot thing right now, and 2. It is NEW, lots of bugs being worked out.

Trust me Q4 of last year, the boards were plastered with MSI problems too when it was the "hot thing".

To get at your original question. Most of the early problems I have seen with the MSI board have been worked out in BIOS updates, the newer boards seem pretty solid. Of course I am sure there are still several people having problems with the MSI, and I am sure you will hear about them shortly. For me, I have had the board mmm maybe about a Month.. It has been perfect for me. It came with 1.41 bios, no problems with it so far, using a 3200 Winchester and 2x512 PDP Patriot tccd memory. I have read of other MSI boards having longevity problems ie taking a crap after several months. Obviously I cant comment on that now, but if it happens to me in the future, you guys will be the first to know.

This was my 1st MSI board, I have always used Abit or Asus. I decided agains the ASUS this time bcause I have not had good luck with Via chipsets (Intel platforms and ooold Slot Athlons). If ASUS/ABIT made a Nforce 3 board, I would have went with that one.

Not a MSI K8N user at least not yet but I have been watching this board in various forums for some time now (as the board to get in the NF3 line). So far I have read nothing that has changed my mind that this is one of the best boards out there. Most problems are form backyard installs.
As to the leaking caps yes there are some boards out there (perhaps makers like Soltek, ECS and other low end manufacturers even MSI) but I have 3 MSI boards right now for the last 2-3 years and they are still going strong (845PE Max, KT333 Ultra and the K7T Turbo LE). So I will buy MSI again.
