Here's a question:

I'm running MS Outlook 2000 and I would like to create a junkmail filter that would send any incoming messages that are not speficically addressed to me to my Deleted Items folder.

i.e, I would like to filter email messages for which my email address does not appear in the "TO" section. This is generally junk email.

Anyone know how to do this in MS Outlook 2000?

Not sure how you would create a filter to move stuff not addressed to you (most of my stuff is addressed to me, even junk :) ), but you can create a all-encompassing junk filter.

From your inbox, go to tools, then organize. Then click on the junk email link. You can then automatically move junk (and adult) email to your deleted folder. This also lets you specify which senders are junk senders. After turning these rules on, you can right click on a message and choose add senders to junk email list. Then the next time they send you mail, they will be moved to the deleted folder.

Finally, you can manually edit the junk senders list. IE, before you get mail from these people, if you already know their address. To do this go to tools, then rules wizard. Find the junk email rule that was created and click on "from". This will bring up the junk senders list, and you can edit to your hearts content.

Hope this helps. :)

Well, I know Hotmail now has this cool feature that will allow you to do this, and it works very well. I was just wondering if it could be done in Outlook

Well, if you hit the organize button in the toolbar there will be options for filters and junk mail.

That's a pretty good idea for a spam filter.

So I looked it up and here's my answer to your problem:

Tools, Rules Wizard.

- Check Messages when they arrive
- where my name is not in the To box
- move it to the specified folder
- choose the Deleted Items Folder
- Except if my name is in the Cc box

Done!
