All,
Has anyone heard about any MOBO's that offer built in Flash memory that will support the upcoming Windows Vista ReadyBoost feature:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/features/foreveryone/performance.mspx
ReadyBoost takes advantage of the increased speed available from a flash drive versus the hard drive. The only problem is that no one wants to have to permanently have a 2GB flash drive poked into one of their USB 2.0 ports to take advantage of this. I thought I read a while back about Intel considering adding a flash socket on their MOBO's to support this, but after looking over several recent MOBO reviews this seems to be non-existant. If anyone knows about MOBO's that support this, or have any links to when it might be coming out I would much appreciate it. Given the low cost of flash these days, the imminent arrival of Vista, and the performance improvement that would arise, I would think this would be a no-brainer to start building into MOBO's. Especially if the socket on the MOBO supported a veriety of flash sizes, so you could expand the flash as it became cheaper.
Thanks,
Robert
