Any mobo's do RAID 5?

Hi, I'm building a file server for my home. I'd like to do RAID 5, but haven't decided whether to do software or hardware raid...
Saw that a few of the mobos support raid... Any that do raid 5? (any suggestions are welcome)

Not yet. Long story short: get an add-in RAID controller. Remember that all the RAID speed in the world won't overcome the measly 12.5Mb/second peak throughput of a 10/100 network, so consider RAID1, or multiple RAID1's, as an alternative to RAID5.

Here's a possible solution for a dual-RAID1 setup without going too crazy: http://www.googlegear.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=132202 Not a "real" hardware RAID controller, but for $100... should be good enough for a system that's serving files over a 10/100 network, and it's portable (you can plunk the whole shebang into a different computer). I would use a separate drive for the OS so that the whole RAID subsystem is fully portable.

Any idea on hom much it is going to cost?
My guess would be at least $200.00
 
The EPOX should be around $199 I believe. Downloaded the manual and reading through it. Looks like a good board.

Raid 1 is certainly an option, thank you. 🙂 My intent wasn't to go for speed. This box is to be primarly a file server (MP3) for my home network. I was aiming for Raid 5 so I'd have more usable disk space for the money... 🙂 I could do Raid 1 and just use bigger drives... heck the money would probably come out around the same I think... 🙂

Okay, maybe I should just ask for mobo/proc combo suggestions for a file server? 🙂 (I can tackle the Raid issue separately)
(I think I'd like one with the integrated LAN, video, audio...) -socket A maybe to keep the cost down?

Asus A7N266-VM with any AMD SocketA CPU... onboard LAN, video and audio, plus an AGP slot, and the audio is the true-blue nVidia Soundstorm with both coaxial and optical S/PDIF-out jacks.
 
better yet, get an Epia M 6000. ATA/133 drive support, PCI slot, and 10/100 builtin ethernet. superlow heat and power use for maximum life and uptime (doesn't even have a fan on it it runs so cool), and they cost $120 with the chip soldered in.
 
Umm, the ICH5R only suopports RAID-0, not even RAID 1 or 0+1. How the hell does it support RAID-5?

OIC, Highpoint. Why the hell does it include an ICH5R if it has a seperate RAID controller?!?!
