That techreport review uses a SiS reference board so I doubt there are any production boards as of yet. Give it some time (maybe a month or so) and we should start to see them.

I hope SiS gets more attention this time around, there seems to be a lot of people like Kensai who for whatever reason won't even consider SiS even though SiS has been producing some chipsets that compete very well for the last few years (its just to bad that the motherboard manufactures and consumers cant, or maybe I should say, refuse to see this).

I used to not care about SiS, but I was pretty impressed with this one. As far as I can tell, this is my next gen chipset. Let's hope it doesn't get fudged up in mass production.

Via is actually taking place of SiS in my eyes. I don't care about Via, they seemed to have never made any good products, or at least, most of their releases seem half-assed.

ECS have a 756-A on their web site. Stupid not-really-AGP slot on it as well.

How is ECS's reputation as a manufacturer? Repeated failures? Bad customer support? And what other manufacturer's usually accept SiS? I've heard that Asus and MSI have taken interest in this chipset.

There are 3 boards so far, the ASUS A8S, ECS 756-A and one from Foxconn.
So far only the ECS has been announced, so the others may be cancelled before they hit the retail market. ASRock is not making a board based on this chipset.

ECS and PC-Chips are the same group.

The boards will work just fine, so long as your important parts (RAM, PSU, CPU cooler) are actually working properly. And by working properly, it takes more than just a brand name or a label.

read carefuly

most != all
like != only

i'd worked with more than 20 ecs's and 3/4 cpchips's (and a lot of others) completely different design/layout (not to mention bios).

ECS and PC-Chips are the same group but ECS is a first tier manufacturer while PC-Chips is not (different consideration in quality/design/parts)

bottom line:
1. most SIS board come from 2nd tier manufacturer.
2. Motherboards from ECS are usually better then PC-Chips
