Never paid attention to it until I heard CNN is authoring news tailored to it. Stopped in and checked it out...the people I found were clueless what to do. I was too and I am a long time gamer (WASD at least works, but sidestep doesn't :)).

graphics and objects are pretty cool...

I play Second Life and I love it!! I have my own business in it. I create clothing plus I make graphics for other Second Lifers who own a business. I'm actually making RL money. So I like this game. I especially like it because I can be creative and give my photoshopping/designing skills to work

I toyed with it long ago, but couldn't really find much to do.

or the stores where you can buy anatomically correct appendages/orifices
or the sex clubs, or the furry clubs...

anywhere where the pervs can congregate is where you'll find people

It's a hype machine. Linden Labs has convinced clueless execs at big corporations that it's where "the kids hang out" -- the same kind of people who came up with the "I'd hit it" ads for MacDonalds.

Those execs want to show they are hep cats too, so intel, MS, etc. buy worthless virtual property in SL to set up ghost towns.

Lazy reporters are fed press releases from Linden about what a happenin' place SL is, and dutifully turn them into articles.

People read the articles and see banner ads from intel, etc. and think to themselves "wow, SL must be poppin' just like my lip gloss."

It's supposed to be a nice place to hang out if you like furry cybersex though.

I remember creating an account to check it out and laughing at the sheer stupidity of it all.

Well yes a lot of cybersex and cyber sluts are there, but it's only fun if you are creative and like to build shit, if you were into fashion design and made clothing, were a DJ and wanted to make easy money, or if you are into that kinky cybersex stuff. If you have Second Life add me Revy Cortes, I'll help you out if you really want it.

Opie and Anthony did a bit on Second Life a month or two ago....was friggin hilarious. Actually they're pretty goddamn funny all the time. But as a gamer, anytime they talk about video games or LARPing its an absolute riot.....

2 damage! 2 damage! 2 damage!

From what I heard about it, it seemed simply like The Sims MMO. To be honest, instead of playing a true to life MMO, I just.. go outside. If I want an MMO, I want something fantasy. :)

My experience with Second Life deals with Something Awful and how they "attacked" Second Life :D. I also remember the digital wang attack during that one interview.
