I am learning transact SQL and have passed 70-228 administrating Msoft SQL2000 server. I will pass Design SQL2000 Server next week and then become MCDBA.
I am curious about the details and job responsibilites of database admins in the real world, not the crap I keep reading at the beginning of every exam question or exercise in my texts. I want to know what to expect from the job and really what an employerr would expect. I'm already MCSE and hope to be employeed as a network admin. I am getting the MCDBA to admin that as well. I know MCDBA's are paid well, but how much is scripting and how much is general housekeeping?
I am studying PL/SQL as well. I think there are plenty of Oracle setups in the marketplace. I may look into some unix scripting too, but SQL is SQL for the most part.
