Any MCDBA's here?

I am learning transact SQL and have passed 70-228 administrating Msoft SQL2000 server. I will pass Design SQL2000 Server next week and then become MCDBA.

I am curious about the details and job responsibilites of database admins in the real world, not the crap I keep reading at the beginning of every exam question or exercise in my texts. I want to know what to expect from the job and really what an employerr would expect. I'm already MCSE and hope to be employeed as a network admin. I am getting the MCDBA to admin that as well. I know MCDBA's are paid well, but how much is scripting and how much is general housekeeping?

I am studying PL/SQL as well. I think there are plenty of Oracle setups in the marketplace. I may look into some unix scripting too, but SQL is SQL for the most part.

I took 229 friday and failed it. Its a ah heck. I will re take it next week. I have MCSE W2k and passed 228 last Thursday.

No your stuff before attempting 229. I know some who are on their 3rd and 4 th try.

Have you heard any anectodle evidence of job responsiblities for MCDBA, other than the dreamworld stuff in the exam questions? I just can't imagine a job that would require so much scripting or fine tuning.Once its installed, and installed properly, then it should run very well, with backups and redundancy, clustering, and security features, I invision getting paid very well for babysitting. The meat of what I really want is designing networks,or administrating a network environment. But to get there, you need a hook. Thats why I am going MCDBA route.

Good luck on your exam. I frequent MCSEbraindumps. post there your results. Go there to get some advice and assitance.
