I was just wondering if anyone was using OS X 10.3 yet and if it was worth the upgrade.

I'm hearing a lot of good things about Expose, but what else has been upgraded.

I'm running it on a powerbook 667dvi. Things got faster, uptime of 12 days, runs a hell of a lot more stable than Jaguar.
 
good to hear that it's more stable than Jaguar (I hate it when iCal would take a crap every so often...)

I think I may just upgrade (gotta love the education discount price of $69)
 
I've got it and love it. I got the Government pricing which is $60 something, worth it so far. With that said I'm still kinda bummed I didn't get it free with my new Powermac G4 I bought in September.
 
Get Panther..

It's totally worth the upgrade.. Its like going from Windows 2000 to Windows XP.

Everything feels snappier, Boot and application load times are much less, and it looks prettier.

Jaguar is dead...

I'll have to go snag it tommorrow now that I hear it runs faster than Jag. But let me ask... is this just an impression you have or are there any #'s to prove what you "feel"? What changes were made that will make Panther faster than Jag? The memory management is about as good as it gets on Jag.
 
I agree with foxkm on the speed increase, I don't have any benchmarks or "real world" numbers but in my day to day operation, it is definitely faster.
 
Panther is faster than Jag, by a long shot. It also FEELS faster. Bootup/shutdown times are much much faster than before. I swear I would want to kill my powerbook for starting and shutting down so slowly. Now its fast.

I am gathering my nickels and dimes right now.

Of course unless I get a nice bonus over the holidays I probably won't have enough money until OS 10.6 comes out. 😛
 
I just received my copy of Panther from Apple, and I must say Expose is awesome...

Boot up on my G4 PowerBook (867MHz) feels like it's 25% faster, the DVD player is also a lot better (more controls), the new Developer Tools (XCode) seems to behave a lot better as well

It is worth the upgrade
