Any Logitech LX 7 mouse users?

My Logitech MX Laser (I believe the first Logitech laser mouse) is tired. All the feet have worn off and it doesn't glide smoothly. My cordless keyboard died and I am back using a cordless for the moment so I am considering buying the Logitech LX 710 keyboard/mouse combo which uses the LX 7 mouse. Other then the fact the LX 7 is not rechargeable, do you think I will notice a drop off in performance between the two mice?
 
I have one I just got in August. Needed it for work primarily since one of our apps
only works with Ctrl+C & Ctrl+V for cut & paste, which we use all the time. So this
mouse has the 2 little extra buttons on it, which are fully programmable. Works nice
and the battery life, so far is good. On my first set of batteries (energizers) and they
are still fine. Only thing I don't like is the power button is hard to use. And for some
reason, my mice keep tending to navigate off the mouse pad or point in the wrong
directions at times. And that happens to me on any mouse pad surface and even with
my MX1000 at home.

FYI: I got it thru Amazon.com for about $35 and at that time
it had a $10 mail in rebate. So for me, an excellent price. You
will find Staples & Office Depot about $10 higher .. Also, free
shipping & no sales tax at Amazon ... got it in about 4 days
 
Thanks Bruce. I see Circuit City currently has the combo package for $50 right now so I think I will go for it. Out of reading the reviews what disturbs me most is that a couple of people claim the keyboard battery life is very short, only about a month. I hope that is an aberration as my old Logitech keyboard went a year or more on a set of batteries but unfortunately did not survive soda being dumped on it.
 
I can not speak as to the battery life in a keyboard. I know for sure
the mouse is not very power hungry. You could try Energizer E2 Lithiums
for the keyboard. Said to be very long life versus alakaline batteries. However,
they are also more expensive.
 
Hi Bruce, I will most definitely put the E2 lithiums in the mouse because of the weight advantage. The lithiums are considerably lighter then both alkalines and nimh's.
 
Just installed the setup. Very impressed with the keyboard, nice tactical feel to it. Much less so with the mouse although I'm comparing it with my former Logitech MX Laser. The LX 7 mouse is much smaller and less substantial although it seems to track ok. I'll have to give it time and see if I can get used to it.
 
I selected the LX7 for work based on several factors.
One was seeing it at Staple ... I liked the look and the
feel for my hand size was just right.
Two was the cost, although Staples is $10 more than I paid
it would still have been acceptable
Third was the fact that it had the 2 extra programmable buttons
that I could easily operate with the same fingers I use for left and right click

And it needed to fit into my laptop carry case easily.
