Well I bought their first three albums mental jewelry, throwing copper, and secret samadhi. Recently I really started to listen to it again and I downloaded the unplugged version of supernatural. Great song but how do you search for "live" the band on napster without getting so called "live" versions of a million different songs. Also what album did supernatural come in. I'd like to download a couple of their new songs to see if it is worth buying. thanks. Oh and your opinions on "the distance to here" and "maximum live". thanks again

I haven't heard their first album, but Throwing copper and secret samadhi where really good! Distance to here is good, but not as good IMO. Great band tho! :) As for searching, maybe go by album, some people store mp3's by album name first, then it should show all the songs in it. Hope this helps

yeah I think one non main stream album is actually called LIVE EVIL. hehe But no their music isn't really geared towards evil (at least I don't think so). :)

I too own Live's first 3 albums. Gee, haven't listened to them in a long time. Mental Jewelry is my personal favorite, but even better and if you like their older stuff is "Death Of A Dictionary" by Public Affection. That band was the predecessor of Live back when Edward Kowalczyk and the boys were just in high school in PA. I have a burnt copy of it that you can email me for if you want it. :D

To answer one of your questions, Supernatural appears on Sweet Relief II, a compilation album whose proceeds go to the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, a non-profit organization which raises funds for musicians with medical and financial hardship. If you recall, the first Sweet Relief album was all covers of Victoria Williams' songs (like Pearl Jam's 'Crazy Mary') to raise funds to cover Ms. Williams' medical costs when she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1992.

Anyway, hope this helps!

sweet:). klee58 I'll definitely have to get in touch with you about their beginning album. I'm thinking that there should be more fans than just Daleroy, klee58, and myself. In my opinion their music is almost on the same level as Dave Matthews and DMB threads are always full of fans.

This is a mistake, getting me started on Live... ;D They are certainly my all-time favorite band, both on CD and in concert...In any case, song/album listings (for those who are uneducated about these great 4 guys out of York ;)):

Death of a Dictionary (as Public Affection)
-Savior for a Day
-Who Put the Fear in Here
-Good Pain (this is also found on Four Songs and Mental Jewelry)
-Morning Humor
-Paper Flowers
-Hands of a Teacher
-Sister
-Raising a Man
-Libra (very pretty)
-Ball and Chain

Four Songs (the first release by Radioactive...I dont' have this one, but as I recall it, almost all tracks were repeated on Mental Jewelry)

Mental Jewelry (probably their most 'socially-conscious' album)
-Pain Lies on the Riverside
-Operation Spirit (The Tyranny of Tradition) (you'll find this on *some* radio stations and on MTV occasionally...i believe this was also played during one of their televised live sessions)
-The Beauty of Gray
-Brothers Unaware
-Tired of "Me"
-Mirror Song (my personal favorite on this album)
-Waterboy
-Take My Anthem
-You Are The World
-Good Pain
-Mother Earth is a Vicious Crowd
-10,000 Years (Peace Is Now)

Throwing Copper
-The Dam at Otter Creek
-Selling the Drama
-I Alone
-Iris
-Lightning Crashes (absolutely incredible in concert...just, wow...)
-Top
-All Over You (the prostitute song ;X)
-Sh*t Towne (amusing if you're from a small town..)
-T.B.D.
-Stage
-Waitress
-Pillar of Davidson (here i am locking horns with a stallion...)
-White, Discussion (the video for this kinda sucked)
-Horse (hidden track)

Around this concert tour or so, the only song I can remember being mentioned that wasn't on an album was "Susquehanna" -- named after the river. i haven't been able to track down a recording of this yet.

Secret Samadhi (imho, not a great album for them)
-Rattlesnake
-Lakini's Juice
-Graze
-Century
-Ghost
-Unsheathed
-Insomnia and the Hole in the Universe (crazy ladi ;))
-Turn My Head (beautiful...)
-Heropsychodreamer
-Freaks
-Merica
-Gas Hed Goes West (almost ballad-like...)

The Distance to Here (much better than SS and more mature than TC)
-The Dolphin's Cry (last song recorded, first released)
-The Distance
-Sparkle
-Run to the Water (another of my favorites)
-Sun
-Voodoo Lady
-Where Fishes Go
-Face and Ghost (The Children's Song)
-Feel the Quiet River Rage
-Meltdown
-They Stood up for Love (inspires lots of long drawn-out talking from Ed in concert)
-We Walk in the Dream
-Dance With You (my absolute favorite, for many many reasons...and a gorgeous way to end a show)

The Acoustic Sessions (5-song EP in the 2-disk import of Distance to Here)
-I Alone
-The Dolphin's Cry
-The Distance
-Run to the Water
-They Stood Up For Love

The last show I was at, they played a new song called "Deep Enough" -- I don't know if that will be recorded or not.

OK, I'm done now :)

ok Ladi or anyone else can you tell me how I can find results and download Live songs for preview. And no I'm not planning on downloading an entire album to burn. :) The quality is too poor and it is too time consuming. I'd like download a couple of songs off their two newest albums and any of the Live's "live"/unplugged stuff that isn't copyrighted. thanks

Well people don't usually have all the songs in one album. You could just search for 'lightning crash' or 'dolphin's cry' for example and see if other ones are one the server. I'm not sure how Napster works. Haven't used it, but I had the same experience too, hehe, looking on ftp's in the past. 'Britney Spears Live' WTF! Cheers.

BTW, nice nick. I don't remember how the story went but do know the book was some good stuff.

I Alone is my absolute favorite Live song, but I loved the whole album of Throwing Copper.
