is there a limit to the size of a hard drive in winxp sp1.

I want a 250 gb drive and wanna know if i will have to partition the h3ll out of it just to get it to work?


what are the current mobo limits?

a 250gb drive will show up as 250gb as long as you use NTFS. Mobo acceptance can be found in your mobo manual.

So long as all your hardware supports 48bit addressing, you will be fine as sp1 supports it.

You can't format a FAT32 drive larger than 32GB in Win2k/XP making file system choice a nonissue.

Under NFTS and 48-bit addressing maximum drive size is 2 TB...that's Terabytes.
