Just as the title and subtitle says... I would like some recommendations from other Lightroom 2 users out there on books and/or online resources to quickly get up to speed on using Lightroom 2 efficiently.

I'm not a pro by any means. I mostly take general family pictures, landscape pictures, and pictures of whatever else I find interesting.

I have a Nikon D50 and the following lenses:
18-55 "Kit" lens
55-200 standard (cheap) nikon zoom
50mm "thrifty fifty) f/1.8 lens

Thanks in advance for any discussion/recommendations.

For the most part just trial and error. Since it's non-destructive editing you can do something and take it of later.

As for workflow, I just discovered the collections feature. At first was trying to organize everything by the folder name instead of the collections.

Have you seaerch on google for tutorials? There's a website just for lightroom tutorials I think.

Hello and Roll Tide Roll to a fellow Bama fan!

I just ordered this book ... I've read a couple of Kelby books and have liked them. This particular book got very good reviews.

Do you use Lightroom 2?

I have searched google some, there's a fair amount out there... I was just hoping that some people would be able to make suggestions from their own experience.

I use and really enjoy working in LR2.

I suggest you check out this one also as it helped me understand how LR2 works under the hood.

A few pointers,

- Your photos are not stored in LR2s catalog, you still need to back them up along with your catalog.

- As mentioned above, LR2 in non-destructive (you don't work on the original, just a preview of a copy), so just have fun with a picture and you can always reset it.

- If you shoot RAW, check out the new camera profiles in the newest version of LR2.2 in the Camera Calibration (Develop module). It's a neat little feature that I've been waiting for.

- Just like any other powerful program, learn you shortcut keys, it will save you time in your workflow.

- Learn to use the Adjustment brush, its like photoshop dodge/burn tool on steroids.

- Bookmark http://www.lightroomkillertips.com , and read a lot.

I could go on and on, I just love LR and can spend hours playing with photos. Not sure what your looking for, tips on a workflow or just LR2 in general.
