I'll be driving south on the PCH from San Fran to the San Diego area this Saturday. This is strictly a photo-taking adventure before I have to work in Rancho Cucamonga for a couple of days.

Any random last-minute tips?

The parts of the PCH that are in Orange County (and very possibly further) have heavy traffic during rush hours. Just random information that might help you

Hey, drive fast, and take all curves on 2 wheels, and maybe you'll get lucky, and meet a really cute paramedic who you'll fall head over heels in love with........and THEN you can post it here!! ;)

After you get into Venture County be prepared for traffic. As you approach Palos Verdes you might want to take the road that skirts around on the Ocean side. I think it is Palos Verdes Dr. The PCH cuts through the neck of the PV Peninsula and there is some crappy areas. If you take palos Verdes Dr you might want to stop at the Terranea resort. There is several good spots to take pictures, hiking trails and the parking is free. There is also a restaurant right down on the cliffs called Nelsons.

go see hzl eyed grl! She lives in Pismo Beach right off PCH, when I went from LA to Monterrey I hung out with her.

I would highly recommend breaking that drive up into 2 or even 3 days. It's a long drive because of all the curves and unless you are fresh you might not appreciate it as much.

I'm assuming that's supposed to be a joke because everyone on the internet is fat and ugly?

She's quite beautiful.

I took PCH up from L.A. one year ago. Make sure to visit the cafe in Pismo Beach with the clam chowder. Shoreline Cafe or something. Hit up breakfast at Zachary's in Santa Cruz too.

If you're being strict about staying on PCH, when you hit the Oxnard area, it will turn into Oxnard Blvd. It's just like a regular street and there's nothing to see and it's quite a bit of a drive to finally get back on the coast in Malibu. You can skip this by staying on the 101, but you'll miss a large part of the Malibu portion of the drive.

Before that (if you're being strict on staying on PCH), you will actually get off the freeway before that and pass through small towns that are mainly agriculture (you also pass a huge air force base). Don't miss this because it becomes miles of strawberry fields and the smell is amazing.

Once you get past Santa Monica and the like, you may just want to hop on the 405 as PCH will become a traffic-clogged street down near Palos Verdes. I don't even know where it continues down past Orange County though.

Good luck.
