I'm on the market for an entry level value laser 4-in-1 box. Recommendations and pointers to any deals are highly appreciated.
Thanks.

I looked into this very thing a couple months ago and the all in one lasers are not all they are cracked up to be. The hignend officejet all in ones are much better. IMO

Higher print dpi, color printing, and at least equal to laster quality blacks if not better due to higher dpi, the last point being a big point with me as i hated the poor text quality prints from previous inkjets i've owned.

I picked up the HP officejet 7130 form costco for $449 and love it. much higher resolution copies, double sided printing, photo image printing from memory cards.. Seperate print heads and ink cartridges for each color..

I didnt like the idea of paying as much as couple hundred more for a laser printer all in one that was SEVERLY lacking in features compared to the officejets.

Hp's personal multifunction and all-in-ones

use the compare feature for the 71x0 series officejets and the 33xx series laser mutifunctions and you'll see what i mean. one error i saw on the ecompare page, the 71x0 are also sheetfed enabled for copies, i've done it.

peace,

I just got a Canon MP730. for $370 from Amazon. That includes shipping.
MP 730 at Amazon

I have only used it for a few hours, but so far output is excellant.

The critical difference between Canon and HP is that you can get good quality, cheap. 3rd party ink cartridges for the Canon. There are no 3rd party ink cartridges for the HP. I think that HP has a chip in their ink cartridges that their printers check to make sure that you are using an HP cartridge. You, of course, pay for that chip. You also pay super premium prices for the HP ink.

The reviews for the Canon are at least as good as those for the HP.
