I'm looking for laser all-in-one printer/copier/fax/scanner that can do scan over built in port. Due to lack of support from external printer servers that handle multi-function units I'd rather use printer's built in ethernet port but could not find one. Either black or color is fine as long as it meets the need. Any help would be appreciated :)

Yes, Brother has some of the best networking with their MFC series - all functions are supported. The software is a little more complicated to set up because of it, but if that is what you need... If you want color, their inkjet units are also as good at networking. The 3-digit series is the newer one, I'd avoid the 4-digit older inkjet series as IDK if their problems have been resolved. I think most of them have wired Ethernet as standard and the ones with a W suffix also have integrated wireless networking.

any of the brother mfc series. my mfc8420 does scan over network (our printer is hooked up via usb to our desktop computer, then it just works in the mac and any other pc since i shared the printer over the network). the newer models have ethernet built in so sharing is even easier.
