I used LABView while I was doing research as an undergrad at Univ. of KS.

I used it to automate a high temperature, high pressure testing system that acquired ignition times for green diesel additives.
LABView operated the solenoid valves and monitored the thermocouples on the test equipment.
The test conditions were up to 1000 Kelvin and 1500 psig. one mistake and... BOOM!

That was a fun summer!

PS- not a good idea to send 120VAC into a 5 VDC digital I/O board. Lots of smoke, sparks, and soiled pants. Blew up the DAC chip on the PCI board DAC in the PC. National FEDEXed us a new one under warranty. That's what I call good customer service!

I think management kinda sorta wants me to pick it up. I prolly should, but I dislike programming in general.
Yes, I know this isn't quite the same as C++ but its programming none the less.

I've used LabVIEW for about 3 years, both for work and other various projects. I've become quite proficient with it, though my new job won't make use of it.

It's a really nice tool for some applications (automated test systems, data acquisition systems, diagnostic interfaces, etc.). I do still prefer traditional text-based languages for most programming.

i used it shortly this past semester in a lab.

since the lab sucked, i did not get to learn to use it.

i do have it installed on this laptop though, legally of course. (seriously, it;s a school issued laptop).

*raises hand half way* I have the complete package here on a shelf, but I've never really used it.
