Any Kyro2 users work with 3D apps?

I got a Kyro2 and haven't been able to keep 3DS Max running, it just quits out spontaneously to the desktop. Anyone else having the same problem?

I have my display optimization settings on default, running on this rig:

Win2k (SP 2)
384 MB RAM
Dual P3 800's

any ideas?

Try a search in this forum under Kyro 2 and you will see numerous posts regarding the issue of ram> 256 = Kyro 2 not work so hot! You might try pulling one of the sticks of ram and see if it helps. Makes me glad I went for the Geforce 2 GTS deal at compgeeks. Hope the new drivers get it straightened out. They are rumored to be coming out in a few weeks....

Nope that doesn't look like a symptom of the more then 256mb ram problem that some people suffer from. Do your games run fine? I don't use progs like 3DS Max so I have no idea what may cause that problem. Take a look at the FAQ at Paraknowya.com and also post this problem in the forums there and at http://pvr.gamestats.com/start.shtml

The kyro 2 is not the best video card for use in 3dsmax unfortunately, I think that due to the tile rendering process hiding the the rendered image the program gets a bit 'confused'. I would guess that performance should be on par with a tnt2 if the Opengl drivers are any good, unfortunately this doesnt seem so. Hercules dont recommend the Kyro II for 3d rendering programs might be worth posting on there forum.

My games run excellent with this card, I'm thinking there just needs to be a better driver set.

Unfortunately, I'm going to probably have to seize a new video card to get work done--and that could mean switching over to nvidia. BAH!

The kyro II is a gaming card pure and simple, I dont think it is a driver issue more a architecture issue.
