My wife got one for Christmas and agree that it's a wonderful appliance. I've tried several from the sampler pack that came with it and some others that were bought as gifts to go alone and so far my favorite is the Green Mountain Sumatra. I also really like the Neumans's Extra Bold.

For the minute it takes to warm up and 30 seconds it takes to brew it's a very nice cup of coffee with no need for cleanup.

I use my french press. I thought about getting a K-Cup, but I ended up going with the french press because of price, and I think it makes a better cup of coffee with very little cleanup of its own.

I imagine they're pretty nifty for people who don't drink much coffee, but it would cost a fortune to supply my habit.

I have one of those too...but my little one that I used for single cups broke. Plus when it's 5:30 in the morning the Keurig is a lot quieter than running the grinder. And the clean up is much easier.

Yeah, the Neumans' was excellent. You can get five pack samplers at keurig.com so I picked up about 15 different types.

I have a French press as well, but I save that for when I want a really rich cup. Plus the Keurig is infinitely more convenient.

Try the Green Mountain cups. I really like "Dark Magic". The Newmans ones are good also.

I usually just grind a whole bag at once on a "very course" setting and keep it in the freezer. Cleanup takes like 5 seconds. Rinse out filter, then dump grounds out and rinse out base.

Preparation is somewhat faster on the K-Cup, but that really isnt an issue for me. For the press I heat an 8oz mug of water in the microwave for 2 minutes, then dump it into the press and let it brew for 4 minutes, so 6 minutes total, but it only involves my active participation for about 30 seconds. During the other few minutes I just make my breakfast.

The real advantage I can really see to the K-Cup is that you can get such a huge variety of different flavors, and even get things like tea and cocoa.

"Weak" is such a relative term. To me the Folgers crap in a bag that we use to brew at work has an overpowering acidity that rivals something you'd pour out of a rusted out car battery. Some people call that "strong". I call it horrible.

The Sumatra k-cups are rich in flavor but won't make you cringe with overpowering bitterness or acidity. If that's "weak" then I don't want strong.

I define weak as tasting "watery", not really by how much caffeine it has or how much coffee is used to make it. I think it has more to do with brewing temperature, method of brewing, and the beans used.

since i am being relative, i will define. weak as in the coffee is not robust enough..the breakfast blend looks like tea and is thin...we like ROBUST coffee....

Try the Green Mountain Sumatra or Nuemans Extra Bold.

Wife bought one of the Bosch Tassimo machines last year...didn't do a bad job for a quick cup, but lately the thing has turned into a real POS. She's thinking of buying a Keurig to replace it with. I'll have to show her this thread when I get home.

I agree with your wife. There's one at work and it seemed too watery for most of the cups. Try the Dark Magic, Sumatra, Italian Roast, or Kona Blend. Those tasted like actual coffee to me.

Try making a smaller cup... Less coffee but stronger.

It's sorta annoying that these won't brew and "american" sized cup of coffee, but they are pre-measured doses of caffeine..

Also after dissecting a few of the k-cups I wonder if it wouldn't work better with some sort of sprayer style water inlet rather than the needle nozzle.. It sorta seems like the coffee is pushed up against the sides (although it may not matter with such a small application)

I've never had that issue with any of the K-cups I've tried and I've tried a lot. Might be just the brand/blend you chose, try another. If it's still too weak, try brewing the smaller cup size.

Wife and I purchased one with gift cards from Target. I absolutely love it. We don't drink quite enough coffee for a full pot, and it just gets wasted. I also grabbed the "My K-Cup" to grind my own, which works quite well.

So far I've really liked the Newman's, Kona and Donut Shop blends.

My only gripe is that Costco doesn't take visa gift cards, 'cause I would've purchased the Keurig Ultra + 72 K-cup package from there.

I've got both a Keurig and a Tassimo and I prefer the Tassimo now. Brews more types of beverages and the coffees that I've tried taste more like their standard-brewed cousins whereas the Keurig always seemed to have a similar taste or aftertaste to all the coffees I tried.

I'm not a Starbuck's coffee fan but the Tassimo Starbuck's I tried tasted exactly like what you get from Starbuck's.

I've also been pretty pleased with their lattes.
