Right now I'm studying with Jehovah's Witnesses in Oshawa. Anyone else here one or studying to become one?

I knew one once. She was weird. I guess they don't celebrate any holidays?

Just seems like a big old "no fun allowed" club to me.

They don't. I went to school with a few. There's a big Watchtower compound about 20min up the road from me so there's a few of them around.

To get rid of them, just tell them the story of how a blood transfusion saved your life. ^_^

Do they not believe in doctors?

What made you see the light, or lack thereof?

Several things:
When I prayed, I never felt like I was praying to a being, just that I was talking to myself.
After years of trusting that family/friends were telling me the truth yet it never got me anywhere in life I started to think for myself and began doubting religion.
World never ended according to predictions.
Realizing that all religions are basically the same and share similar (if not identical) stories/characters.

The things I respect about JW's over other religions is that they are non-violent, non-political, and have respectable morals, but I have no use for religion anymore.

Doubting religion is the first step towards truth.

Way to speak for everyone

*siigh* ATOT will never change.

No, I agree. He didn't say that rejecting religion was the only way to get the truth, only doubting it. Some people doubt their religion and it ultimately makes their religious belief stronger. I haven't met a single religious person who has never had their faith tested in some way. It's always a good thing to take a good hard look at your beliefs, no matter what they are.
