Any issues with a Radeon RX6800 and an older power supply?

I'm running a still very nice(cost me $450 in January of 2013) PC Power & Cooling Turbo-Cool 1200 power supply.


(The old-style,non-modular version).

Will I run into any issues hooking it up when I eventually get the new RX 6800XT I'm planning on buying?

Not really worried about if the power supply will turn on...more if the new cards(RX6800 or RTX 3070) have PCI-E connectors that won't work with the old power supply.

If you have 2x PCI-e 8-pin connectors that should be sufficient. If not, you'll need Molex or SATA to PCI-e 8 pin adapters.

I don't see a big difference in performance on my 6800 XT between 255W power limit versus 320W so I prefer to run at 255W.

I am able to run at 85% of stock voltage... which makes my reduced power settings run boost clocks in excess of 2400MHz, and if I max out the power limit around 320W it will hit 2650MHz. I imagine if I cranked the fans to 100% and undervolted a bit more I could probably hit 2.75-2.8GHz...

AMD64Blondie, PC P&Cooling makes great psus. Running a 1200 on my 5960x/GTX1080TI and a 950 with my 3900x/RAD VII

I had an old PC Power & Cooling 750W PSU (from 2008) in my computer and upgraded to a reference RX6800 last year. The PSU had 2x 8-pin cables so I had no problem powering the card. I did, however, have problems with very, very loud coil whine from the RX6800 and ended up having to replace the PSU. I went with a Corsair CM750 because it was the only thing I could get from the local Best Buy the same day. After the PSU replacement the coil whine was no longer noticeable.

I assume the coil whine issue is caused by load or electrical noise/interference traveling through the PSU to the GPU. The old PC&C has all of the 12V wires bundled together and soldered to the same spot on the board. It doesn't look to separate power rails for different component.
