Do you like the new American version, or the original Japanese one better?

I like the original, though American is better in the food aspect to me, since the foods are more familiar to me.

I only watch the American version. I can't get into the Japanese one because I'm not familiar with more than half of the ingredients they use.

I liked the original iron chef better in terms of watching a show. The new chairman is very cheesy in how he acts, just seems pretty lame.

i love the old one because japanese cuisine is fucking awesome, but i've grown to love the new one too

original iron chef has better chefs, more diverse ingredients, and the dubbed commentary is way better than annoying alton brown. i respect alton brown for what he knows (have 2 of his books) but hes a poor cook and hes getting quite annoying

I hate the host of American Iron Chef. he's just too self-aware in his cheesiness that makes it go from funny cheesy to just plain cheesy.

beyond the host, though, I like them both equally.

Hate the American one. Don't know why they did the whole chairman thing. Wish I can catch the original Iron Chef in Japanese with English subtitle. The dub is not bad, but I don't like dubs.

Alton Brown has gone from quirky cool to uber douche. I like the old one, even if I would not eat about 80% of what they make.

im a fan of his

and i agree.

i like the original better. the ingredients seemed much more interesting...also, i hate bobby flay.

i like the American version but i cant take the chairman seriously anymore. I once saw the chairman in a B movie playing a commando.

Love the original, the dubed voice actors of the 2 hosts were more entertaining then Alton Brown and the overall cuisines and iron chefs were more enjoyable to watch.

One thing I don't like about the American version is that the surprise ingredients aren't really a surprise. I don't mind Alton Brown, I think it might be better if he were to judge as well.

And I hate Bobby Flay too.

I hate the American one, if for no other reason than the stupid "nephew chairman" who acts like a retard.

Luckily the original Iron Chef is on FLN, so I can watch it now. It sucks that its dubbed, but whatever, its still better than the American one.

I like them both. Only problem I have with Iron Chef America is that the secret ingredients aren't that ..I dunno..wacky I guess. I would like to see some oddball ones once in awhile. Maybe they can ask Andrew Zimmern (Bizarre Foods dude on the Travel Channel) for some advice.

He's just saying the ingredients are not interesting enough, not that they are/are not secret, and I tend to agree.

I like the new one a bit more just because I recognize many of the contestants. It's a close call, though. I like Alton Brown. The old narrator didn't seem to know anything about cooking or food. Alton knows enough. I still think it was complete horsecrap that Bobby Flay beat Rick Bayless though.

I do kind of miss the dubbed "mmmmm!" though.
