Any info on the Geforce4 MX440SE

Is this card a good performer? I have seen it advertised cheaper than a Radeon 7500 and I would hope that it outperforms the Radeon as the GF4 MX440 did. Would it be worth buying or is it a cut-down poor performer? 😎

Is this the AGP8X part? The Geforce4 MX's should be avoided in general. The name is deceiving, it should be Geforce2 Ultra Ultra or something.

😉 I'd noticed GF4MX440SE cropping up too, it certainly shouldn't be the AGP8x part as that's called GF4MX440-8X (much closer to GF4MX460 perf), and of course GF4TI4200-8X for the AGP8x ver of the 4200 (which is also clocked higher at 250/500 in the 128MB ver).

😱 I'd expect the MX440SE to be a cut down version using slightly lower clocks and cheaper RAM which in turn will inhibit o/c'ing. Haven't heard anything official about these SE mysterious labels though.

🙁 The GF4MX does have a bad rep, sure the namings horrible, almost as bad a s ATI's Rad9000 naming but there are plenty of enhancements over GF2 to make them worth it for some. GF4MX cards are faster and have vastly improved image quality, dual display and DVD playback while the TVout/VIVO is also improved ... all compared to the GF2 version and 3D aside they're superior in exactly the same way to GF3 too. Still they are based on 2 year+ old technology no matter how efficient and improved they are, much wiser going for a GF4TI4200, Rad8500 or Rad9000PRO really.
