Any info about the Enermax-Branded Antec case at Newegg?

This case looks awesome, and the price is nice too. But I'm worried about possibly getting a flimsy case that's not up to antec's standards. Can anyone confirm that this is a good case, and that newegg really isn't ripping us off?

Here's the info: Link

<< I placed my first order with Newegg.com in early November based on all the positive things mentioned here. I ordered an Antec SX1240 case. The price we great. Last weekend I was at the Antec website and saw a warning posted about some online vendors selling phony Antec cases. I called Antec's customer service and they said that Newegg was one of the companies that were selling the fake cases and that Antec had contacted them and they stopped selling the cases under the Antec name. I was shocked. I felt like I had been duped and was really mad. I wanted to call my lawyer or do something. I called Newegg's customer service. At first they tried to snowball me but I just got madder. Finally they offered to allow me to return the case but I had already purchased 5 fans for it as well as installed most of my components. After some back and forth dickering they offered to credit my account $50. I felt that this was fair. I still feel that I was betrayed by Newegg. If they didn't know that the cases were fakes, they should have notified all customers right away. If I hadn't seen the warning on Antec's website I would never have known for sure my case was a fake. When the case arrived I felt that something was wrong because there was no Antec wording on the case and there was no manual or warranty information. Antec's case comes with two fans and this one had none. I didn't complain because I got the case for a great price and just figured it was an oem version. How wrong I was. I am not sure if I will order from Newegg again or not. >>

And Newegg's reply:

<< This is the VP of Newegg: Dear (jarrad18): Thank you for voicing your concern. We are also very troubled and apologize for the mistake of advertising the wrong name. As soon as we found out about this mistake, we quickly made the appropriate change on our website. HOWEVER, you did not get a "fake" case. Nor did you get duped! Fact is, we purchase the chassis from the same manufacturer in Taiwan that Antec purchases them from. You see, the question you have to ask is, does Antec really manufacture their own cases, fans and power supplies? I'll leave that up to you to decide. All I can tell you in honest truth is that we get the same chasis from the same manufacturer that Antec does. We renamed the chassis "chieftech" and if you put our chieftech chassis side by side next to an antec case - I'm confidant you will discover that the chassis we sold you is identical in quality and specifications. We also did specify in our ads that our offering of this chassis line does not come with any fans. We do apologize for the confusion. But rest assured, the chasis you got is not a fake and is indeed the real thing. If you or any other customer are not satisfied, please contact us, we will offer you a full refund and also take care of your shipping costs. At Newegg, we are dedicated to protecting and serving our customers. We want to be the online store that you can trust, no exceptions. Thank you for your understanding. Sincerely, Newegg.com >>

Is this about the same case I was looking at? Does anyone have more information about this?

The VP from newegg is telling the truth. Antec doesn't make those cases. You might as well call Antec a fake, and Enermax the real one. The only differences are power supply options and maybe case fan options. But there is nothing to be pariniod about.

I own the Enermax FS-710, which is just like an Antec SX1040, I guess. This case is great, and I did see for a while NewEgg listed the Chieftec cases as Antec. They now have Antec ones, with an Antec power supply. As far as I know, Chieftec is the "REAL" case, even my drive rails say "Chieftec". The only difference (I think, and I have only seen two other Antec cases in person) is the power supply. I love my 330W Enermax with dual fans, pretty quiet, too.

Don't worry, either way, Antec, Chieftec, Enermax, you are getting a GREAT case, just check the specs on the power supply, and compare them to your needs. Other than the "Chieftec" on the drive rails, and the "Enermax" on the power supply, I don't even see any other names. I only feel the quality 🙂

EDIT: Oh yeah, and the case fan options. Mine came with three of four spots filled with sleeve bearing 80MM fans. Some come with none, or whatever. I am sure that you will replace them anyway, seeing that you are in this forum 😉

Question for Timthewiz: I'd like to get a little more detail about the enermax 330 watt psu that comes with the case. More specifically, I'm planning to use it in building my new rig with approx these specs. Please tell me if you think if the psu will be able to handle this well or whether I should a more powerful psu:

Athon Tbird 1.4 (going to oc it as much as I can)
Alpha PAL8045 w/ 48 cfm fan
2 7200 rpm HD's in a Raid 0 setup
Floppy drive
Plextor 2410A
Abit KR7A-Raid
4 sticks 256megs of Crucial 2100 ddr
GeForce 3 Ti200 base video card
Acoustic Edge
10/100 NIC

I think that about covers the major components. how well can the Enermax 330watt psu support this kind of a setup? Would it be better for me to use a 400watt?

Thanx

power supply should be fine

I have that exact enermax case from newegg sitting in my room right now, I just got it

Talk about an awesome case! This thing will take anything u throw at it!

oh good! thanx! I just wanted to make sure it will supply enough power to all the components even though it's just 330 watts. So then under what conditions would you need to get a higher 400watt psu then just for curiousity.

Thanx

I think that ChenMing makes the cases for Antec. Chietec is a newer company but is basically an extension of the ChenMing company. They also have another company named Uneec which is mentioned on the Chieftec site. In any event, they are quality cases.

I've ordered 3 of the beige Enermax branded Chieftech cases (Antec SX 1030 look-alikes). Top notch quality, Enermax PS, 3 Enermax Fans, what more can you ask for? $99 is a great deal!

Well, what more can I ask for in this deal? How about free shipping? 😛 Did newegg ever offer free shipping for this Enermax/Chenming Case?
$15 does add a fair amount to the overall end price you pay.

Antec cases are manufactured by a company from Nationalist China (Taiwan) called Cheng Ming. For example, I have a Cheng Ming 901B, which is basically an Antec SX10x0B without a PSU.

$15 is a pretty fair price for shipping on a case, I mean take a look at some of their motherboard shipping rates, which are all around $10 or so, atleast for the popular ones.
