Hi,

I've read many things about the new NVIDIA chipset.

But, can anyone tell me when (aproximatelly of course) are the new boards are supposed to hit the market?

Thanks

The first boards should be hitting retail sometime in February, but that only goes for Leadtek and MSI I believe.

Well,
At $399, it looks like the price won't drop much on the 9700 Pro's right away since they're almost down to $300 already.
Who has a guess on how long it will be before I can get a 9700 Pro for $150? 6 months? 1 year?
Cause I just can't bring myself to spend over $150 on a video card no matter how good it is.

Honestly the longer this goes on the more I am starting to believe that this is indeed Nvidia just stalling so they can try and make the card better.
I asked them a few basic questions and was given no information at all. In response I sent them this....

Well I paid $400 for a card that I know nothing about...it had better be good or I will never buy another Nvidia product again.
This marketing of your for the FX is the worst I have ever seen, look around the internet, rumors are flying and they are getting worse
and worse the longer you put off this card. You know good and well that you are not going to fool us top end graphics card
users, if the card sucks you can kiss your butt goodbye because its our opinions that trickle down the rest of the world which
in the end helps sell your lower end cards , where all the money is at.
Even though people like me who buy your high end gaming cards make up a small percentage of your sales you can rest assure that it is my hand that feeds you. My influence has sold alot of your cards over the years, I certainly hope that we can maintain our relationship.
James

If those benches come out and the FX is not bordering on godliness I will cancel my order and wait for ATIs next offering....If its not all I expect then I am finished with Nvidia forever.

A friend who works at NVDA told me that they delayed shipment of the FX because of excess TI-4X00 inventory. Given NVDA's long-term success in producing video cards, this scenario is more likely than production of an inferior card.

BentValve, that's VERY interesting. I'm wondering WHY Nvidia hasn't allowed any of their cards to go to review sites yet. The few benches I've been able to find have only been from the tests that Nvidia would allow the tester to do. I haven't seen a single set of unrestricted of benches yet. NVidia has either a monster of a card that they're trying to keep under wraps until the last minute to shock ATI or it's simply a so-so performer in comparison to a 9700 Pro and NVidia is taking this time to work on drivers for a speed increase so that it doesn't look like a dog.

I would go for the SECOND part of your assumption. If the card was the beast we thought it was, we would 've already seen examples of it from Comdex. But nooooo....

What I heard was that the card is delayed because of the 0.13 micron tech ...

... anyway, I will probably by a TI4600 ... but just after FX comes out and price drops ... :)

Unless the card comes at a very good price/performance quality ...

Well, I personally use dates like 2003-01-20, and drive on the right side of the road (but not against traffic :D) -> How about that? :D:D:D

My guess is driver tweaks. I saw those 3 benches that were out. Two of them showed a pretty big advantage for the FX, while the other had the 9700 beating the FX. This could be due to memory bandwidth, but could also be related to driver issues. So I'm guessing, or at least hoping, that some more work on the drivers will give the FX a bigger lead. If it is driver issues, NVidia is probably afraid of what a disappointing first impression will do to the initial sales so they decided to wait to release it until the drivers had been improved.

It is strange though, since according to CompUSA the cards will ship in about 2 weeks.
