Any Infiniti EX35 owners out there?

Looking for some opinions from some long term owners.

I know the styling and general utility turn many people off, but I've been hunting for a while and so far it has stayed on my list.

I don't need a full blown SUV, nor do I wanna drive a truck based vehicle. I do need some cargo capacity - 2 kids, including 1 newborn, though I pretty much only have the whole family in my car weeknights/weekends.

Limited cargo, fuel economy & price are making me a little nervous, but otherwise, I'm really liking the ones I've test driven.

I've had them as loaners from a dealership before and absolutely loved them. Reasonably quick, interior is nice, and the I enjoy the exterior styling.

Cramped back-seat, not much cargo space, crappy fuel economy, and a high price.

Have a look at a Ford Edge, especially the 2011 model which has a revised interior & bigger engine. Comfort, luxury, and plenty of room.

I'd also check out the Volvo XC 60.

I havent driven an xc60 yet, but I did drive the xc70 and its too much of a truck.

Isn't the Edge truck based? In any case, my wife will never go for a Ford. Her dad is a loyalist, but she drove all his hand me downs and hates them.

The backseat in the EX35 seemed roomier than the G35... that's probably not saying much.

I'd rather get at least a semi-luxury car. I'm more of a buy and take care of guy. Had my current car for 9 years and it had all the options... I'm too spoiled now to drive anything without nice leather, sunroof, etc.

Edge is car based. Only the Explorer & Expedition are truck based. Edge has a lot of luxury features including Ford's awesome Nav/Sync system along with premium leather, a panormaic moonroof, heated seats, parking sensors...... may want ot look at the Lincoln MKX as well.

Here are 5-more you should look at:

While much larger- the Buick Enclave may be worth a look. The #1 selling model in this segment is the lexus RX350. I'd also test drive the all new Cadillac SRX.

My brother had a FX35 (too small) and then moved to a
Q7 (too many electrical issues). He now has a Landcruiser and loves it.

You should try a Landcruiser.

I purchased a 2010 EX35 at the end of March. Got about $7k off sticker. I love the performance and handling of the EX. Cargo space is a little disappointing, but I have other vehicles for that. The Around View Camera is awesome! One of the main reasons I got the EX.. haha..

I really like the Q5, but the Audi dealer here is marking them up above sticker.

I was about to make that suggestion...but I know they are selling faster than they can import them...so it might be hard to get a deal on them for a while. Have you considered the A4 Avant...much more likely to get a good deal on it and comparable space....and much better gas mileage.

Yeah, that's on my list as well, but the sales guy was like "you want a wagon??"

I drove an M37 today. Damnit. Now I'm even more confused. I really like that, though I wasn't crazy about the exterior styling. And of course, the sticker shock...

The inside is awesome though. Very big & roomy with some upscale finishes, and then the engine is extremely responsive (the 56 or whatever seems like overkill). It's much roomier in terms of passenger space, and I don't feel like I'm giving up much if anything in terms of performance, so i like it better.

I think My preference right now is:

1. M37
2. Q5
3. A4 Avant
4. EX35

Though, I suspect if we could get a Q5 3.0 TDI in the U.S., I'd be sold. I may just hold out for one, or wait a year to buy a used M37, when I don't have to take on another mortgage payment to purchase it.

Don't let their marketing fool you, an EX35 is a wagon, just on a higher suspension and bigger wheels.

Don't make me post the top gear M5 Touring vs E63 Wagon test, haha

FWIW, i have a 2nd gen G35 -- basically a twin to your EX, albeit in sedan form. I also have two toddlers. The G works just fine. Granted, we can't take everything and the kitchen sink, but i prefer it that way because we are forced to travel lean. My wife and I are light travelers so it's never really been an issue either way.

The G is nothing like my old 5.5 gen Maxima in terms of interior or trunk space, but it works just as well.

It's akin to wearing a loose glove (Max) and a snug one (G). Both works, one just has more space that may or may not be used. The one other benefit i like with the G is it's easier for a front passenger to reach the kids in the back.

I can only assume that the EX would work slightly better because of the somewhat taller trunk area.
