Any "In Flames" fans out there?

Yep, they're my favorite band...i will admit, reroute to remain and STYE weren't that great...well at least a new album will be released this summer.

I have listened to many many many metal bands from both sweden and america, and I must say that In Flames is the best...they might not always have complicated riffs, but i would rather have good music than a good riff. I do wish they had more solos

Well, just checking if there were any other fans out there. If not, check them out, you can probably find something you like from them (out of their many many cds)

Personally, I like Colony and Clayman the best, though Whoracle does have Episode 666( am i aloud to say that? it is a song title...) and that interlude is amazing (though not complicated...). No, they aren't satanic.

I did notice another post about them, but it was from january.

May the force be with you!

They haven't released anything good in a long time, and at best they're a fun little metal band with not an insane amount of talent or originality. I like listening to them every now and then

I can't remember if I have any In Flames or not, either way I haven't been listening to it. Lately I've been rediscovering Cradle of Filth (even if they are posers) and the Children of Bodom album Hate Crew Deathtoll. Good stuff.

But nothing tops Bal-Sagoth. Nothin!

I prefer colony...i love "embody the invisible"

CorporateRecreation, last time i checked In Flames "was" very talented and original. I have yet to hear a band like them. I've heard plenty of melodic metal bands, but none are as good IMO as in flames. They all sound like common bands...in flames, while not amazingly original i admit, has yet to have a band that can match their sound closely.

I do agree however that they need to release something good.
The guitarists aren't super amazing, but they have a lot of talent, but i think they choose not to use it. Have you ever heard a good solo from them? I have, but only once or twice. They really try to make good music instead of having difficult riffs or solos. Talent doesnt always mean that it sounds good. The drummer can do double bass extremely fast in some songs (embody the invisible after the "solo"), the bassist...just does his job, but the vocalist could be better i admit.

OK, so they aren't amazing guitarists like Judas Priest, and they are extremely original, but i have yet to hear a band that does a better job (or sounds like them) in the melodic metal category.

Wow... I really didn't expect this at ATOT. I love In Flames, my favorite song has to be Pinball Map still they don't compare to the likes of Killswitch Engage and Meshuggah IMHO.

In Flames is always my favorite. Now I am listening to Mercenary.

Your nice little metal aah...

grind >>>>>>>>>>>>>>. *

Iced Earth is always my first choice. 🙂

And a great one at that.

mmmmm ... grind .... I tend to like the Czech deathgrind the best. Ever hear Isacaarum, it's a bit sloppy, but soooo good.

In Flames was great IMO back in the late 90s, and onset of 2000. Though they really just copied At the Gates style and added their own twist to it. Whoreacle, Lunar Strain, Subterranean, and the Jester Race were all awesome in my book. Colony was quite good, and Clayman had a few decent tracks. Though I can't say I care for their recent material.

i agree. I haven't heard many bands, but any other metal band just doesnt match their sound. I'll look into At The Gates and see if i see similar sound.

Reroute to remain was ok...well...it had 3 good tracks...Trigger, Reroute to remain, and Cloud Connected.

If you've seen them live, they usually put on a decent show.

Everything up to their last 2 albums was A+, but "reroute to remain" and "soundtrack to your escape" stink, they sold out big time.

yes.

I remember when I first got into them, one of the first songs I acquired was Episode 666. I had Winamp running, and when sorted alphabetically, that song was song number 666 on my playlist. I was a little taken aback. 🙂 It was cool 😛
