Man this is getting annoying. I'm about to go back to Windows 2000 if i cant fix this
XP needs a service pack or something!!!
I have a pent 700@933 on a Abit be62 with 384megs of RAM
XP runs really good for me EXCEPT for two things..
#1 when going through file folders and trying to view properties of any DIVX (especially one that is incomplete) my memory shoots throught the ROOF and whole pc bogs down.. .it will hang trying to show properties. then after about a minute it will show them and memory will go back to normal (usually i use 150-180mb out of 384mb)
#2 Norton antivirus 2002 (xp version) when running in background simply monitoring after several hours I will check my memory and it is using like 200mb!!!! WTF.. The weird thing is when i'm in task manager i cant SEE anything that is using this much memroy but i know its the norton because if i close it the memory hog goes away. Another weird thing.. I can be using like 200mb RAM idling and if i got into a 3d game and then exit it will drop back down to like 100mb.. strange...
Anyone have ANY ideas? I'm running XP corp final 2600
