Any ideas where to get this 'gear'?

My CD Rom drive is really loud and it turns out there is a hairline crack in the 'gear' and so it causes the teeth to not catch and roll as smoothly as they should..

If you really don't want to buy a new drive, I'd say check an old drive to see if you can salvage parts....

Hit up craigslist, or the atot free thread. Someone might sell you an old broken one for just shipping.

IIRC, lego had something similar in some of their boxes. Don't know about the exact sizes of the things though.

FYI not all CD rom drives have this 'gear', I opened up another optical drive and it was a completely different assembly so... :/

They are an Industrial Supplier, You would have to do some research to figure out pitch, diameter, no. of teeth etc.
