Any ideas to keep the slowdown down on a Windows XP computer?

It seems that if I have more than two users logged in, it's laggy as anything. I have 512MB of RAM, and I don't think it should be going this slow.

Also, any good programs to make your computer, or each user load up faster?

BTW, how come a file still loads even after I take it out of the startup using msconfig?

Also, my account is not the main one, my fathers is the main one.

These questions all belong on the Operating Systems forum.

If you think your computer is going too slow, do a perfmon and find out what's causing the slowdown.

If a file is loading after you remove it from startup, obviously something else is loading it. I left my magic wand at home today, so I can't tell right now exactly what is causing this to happen in your particular case.
