Me and a friend wanted to play some head to head MechWarrior and so we tried to install it and it won't install on one of my PC's.(PC#1) I would get this error in the MW4 setup screen after a couple minutes of hanging up on 0% installed.

MechWarrior:Vengeance setup encountered a disk error while writing to the file C:\ProgramFiles\MicrosoftGames\MechWarriorVengeance\00000409.016. Make sure your hard disk is not full and that the file is not in use.

I have plenty of empty HD space(80gigs).
No other program is running that doesn't need to be.
It installs easily on the PC#2
I have current drivers and DirectX8

PC#1 Antec Sx-830
Soyo Dragon kt266a(150fsb)
Athlon XP 1600 OC 1900(40c)
Maxtor 7200 40gig(NTFS) Boot
IBM 7200 60gig (NTFS/FAT32)
SOny CD-rom 52x
Mushkin PC2100 1gig
Gainward Geforce2 Ti500

PC#2 Gateway
AMD K7 600hz
415mb pc100
20gig WesternDigital
Voodoo3
Philips CD-rom
CD-Burner

I tried alot of different things to troubleshoot it.
1. Tried different folders to install into in both HD's.( in both NTFS/FAT32)
2. Tried installing from the PC#2 CDrom and Burner onto the PC#1 HD over LAN.
3. Swapped out PC#2 CD-rom into PC#1
4. Tried Installing from PC#1 CD-rom onto PC#2 HD to see if PC#1 Cd-rom was the problem but wouldn't install.
5. Turned off all extra programs.

Thanks for the link. The first four methods didn't do anything. I want to try the 5th but I am not sure if I should since my networked computers are on different OS. If I try to copy the game from 98se to the Win2000 OS it might not be setup right for it. I do have a partition in Fat32 on my 2000 system that I could put the copy in. What do you think?
