Any ideas on this as seen on tv tool??

last i checked nobody had them, they were going for 35+ on eBay...

looks to be good for someone who needs a soldering iron every once in a while, but not for those who use it daily...one of my coworkers ordered one a few months ago, and I still don't think he's received it!

Ah, yet another opportunity for me to spell "soldering" phonetically.

Good review. But this part:

However, the company states:
We do not recommend it for soldering of large metallic components that require a lot of heat transfer or for soldering sensitive electronic components that may be damaged by fast-rising temperatures or high electrical current. (Momentary high-amperage current will be created during active soldering.)

This means it would probably not work for vmods on motherboards or graphics cards. In the coming weeks I am hoping to test this on an older board to see if this is really true or not.

Boo... Well, circuit boards are pretty much all I solder... Of course, it would be easy to test if I had one of the Cold Heat irons, but I don't want to buy it and then not be able to use it, seeing as they expressly state not to use it for sensitive electronic components.

But then the reviewer said that solder doesn't stick to the tip and you don't have to tin it or anything. Cool.

Why not test it like the reviewer said?

It hung my IE for about 20 seconds and then it opened the page just fine.

I wonder if it could be used on a XBOX and PS2 even though they don't recommend it.
