Any ideas on how to stop "auto all way down" on car drivers' windows?

Absolutely HATE this feature. Unlike milenials apparrntly, im smart enough to know i have to keep the switch pressed if i want it to go all the way down. But 99 percent of the time i don't. Hence pissing me off.

Any ideas on how to fix? Many thanks.

2013 Accord (Honda) if that matters.

on mind if you don't push it all the way down, it operates manually. also if you lift the switch for up, it stops the auto.

You would love my car. Has the feature on all 4 windows, up & down, and you can do it with the FOB too. Cars that only have it on the driver's window piss me off.

Yep, every car I've used this has worked. Not that complicated.

Mine is really weird, it only does it when it wants, so I end up having to hold the button down anyway. This feature can be useful at drive thrus so you can just hit the button, then pickup the money from your cup holder and then by then it's down. But it is a lazy feature overall. Could easily live without it. Half the time my window is fused shut from snow/ice so I have to open the door anyway.

Umm... there's a click-point to engage this, so don't push it past that point.

It's easy ...
===================================
1. Turn the ignition to ON
2. Move the driver's window all the way down
3. Open the driver's door
4. Turn the ignition OFF
5.Push and hold the driver's window DOWN switch
6. Turn the Ignition to ON
7.Release the driver's window DOWN switch

Note that steps 4 through 7 must be done within 5 seconds meaning you have to do it FAST

8.Repeat steps 4-7 THREE more times
9. wait 1 second

Now if you did all properly the AUTO UP/DOWN should NOT work anymore.
If it still works - repeat everything from step 1.

The feature will be disabled as long as you dont roll your window all the way down followed by all the way up and holding it in that position for longer than 2 seconds - this will reset the switch to its original settings.

You sound like my dad...who is old and typically loathes technology. If he had his way the cars would have crank windows and manual locks.

Wholly crap KillerBee, thanks so much, will try it!

dawp, etc. - you are right, you don't hold it down for too long and it doesn't engage the "all the way down" feature. Problem is, if I hold it down for even .1 second it engages it. So to roll it down say 15% of the way without it engaging would take a LONG time. Hence why I want to get rid of the dumb feature.

NutBucket, I am older but fully tech savy. I have a PC with an i7 and a 1080, so far as I know that is about as recent as you can get!

IronWing, thanks for nothing.

Thanks guys! (except IronWing)

It took me a while to get used to the way the switches work, but once I did, it's no problem anymore and the auto feature is easily controlled.

Agreed. One car only has auto-down on the driver's window while the other has auto up-down only on the driver's window. Annoying!

My 1991 car has auto-down. This whole shitting-on-Millennials-at-every-opportunity trend is getting old.

Every vehicle I've owned with auto up/down windows has a noticeable two-stage system where you can easily roll up/down without engaging the auto feature.

I just found out about the two-stage feature on my car after many years of ownership. I'm a millennial so I just dealt with it rather than bitch, though. :p

If you really want to get rid of it, replace the switch with a non-auto switch

Guess you don't drive a stick shift. Auto up is especially nice after passing a toll booth/pay booth. Auto up means you can keep your left hand on the wheel while the right operates the shifter as you accelerate.

And on all the Hondas I've driven, there is a detent that you should be able to feel that actuates the auto up/down. As long as you don't press past that detent, the window will operate manually.

Like all formerly luxury features, I believe the rich in the 70s and 80s wanted it and got it first. But the OP would prefer to be ignorant than face the truth and realize the process of auto roll becoming standard is not instantaneous and on the shoulders of one generation of people.

Checked today, and my truck is auto only on the drivers side. May be changeable through programming, but it doesn't bother me enough to check.
