I just swapped an abit via vt6x4 MB with a ECS K7S5A and figured I'd try to do it without a fresh reinstall, of W98SE, although I know that the fresh reinstall is recommended. Everything worked better than I expected. I can run my programs fine and everything was detected well and given the updated drivers I had downloaded prior to the swap. My only problem is when going on most sites on the internet or when opening a game like microsoft flight simulator the system locks with a grey box popping up stating DDhelp error or violation. I found 3 of these applications on my computer and the properties say they are microsoft direct x helpers. Does anyone have an idea how to resolve this? All my other programs and email work fine so I think it is specifically related to a Direct X application problem as I remember Direct X coming on the Flight simulator CD when I installed it a couple of years ago. Any help to avoid a fresh reinstall would be a appreciated as I have no other hangups with the system. :)

:D Disregard. Located problem was with my 32mb ddr radeon video card. At first I read to try latest drivers which I did but did not help. Then I upgraded to direct x 8.1 and that did the trick. Everything working great now with no glitches. For those of you interested in trying to swap MBs without a fresh install take heart. You have nothing to lose to try it. I got all the latest drivers before I made the swap(except for direct x and the graphics card) and except for this problem everything went smoothly.
