ok here's the setup: i have a canon GL2 hooked up to cable box, set to av->dv pass through and connected with dv to computer.

I want to watch the dv video coming in in a small window on my computer screen (kind of like the PIP feature in the samsung monitor but through the firewire/dv card rather than the monitor itself). This would mean basically previewing the dv input in maximum bitrate and res with audio as well as video preview. Many capture programs you can preview video but not with audio and not as max res and bitrate. Also, I've used Windows Media Encoder to broadcast and then watched on windows media player, that works but it takes 90% of a CPU running at 3.3 GHz so not ideal. Anyone know of a program that might do this?

Seems as though this question overlaps just slightly with the forum's main interest so not only can you answer my question but if not, do you know of any good video forums out there?

-Thanks

sweet...just answered my own question, winDVR or other DVR programs that can handle DV input will let you "watch tv" with it, just get all the DVR stuff that you dont really need
