Any idea where I can buy a big feather?

depending on the color, try Michaels.....craft stores...i KNOW they have huge "pimp" feathers...and you can buy multiple feathers for a better look...

You live in Cali. There has gotta be somewhere near by that does costume design. Check the phone book for costumes and call around asking if they know.

Some of the best costume shops have drama majors as employees, and they always know where to get materials for costumes if the store doesn't have them.
