I have been told of a flap you can buy for your outdoor A/C units that covers the unit when on keeping out the leaves and is raised by the fan when the unit turns on. A strap keeps the flap from blowing all the way over so it will drop down again when the fan turns off.

Any idea what these are called and where they can be sourced?

Also, while searching for these things, I cam accross this little baby: Cool N Save A/C Mister. It uses adiabatic cooling to increase A/C efficiency. Any idea if they work?

Cat flap for the fridge?

Spraying condenser coils to reduce head pressure is nothing new but it needs to be watched. A 1 micron prefilter is necessary to make sure the nozzle orifice remains clear and if the water has excessive hardness it may require conditioning to prevent scale build up, etc.

HAHA - google shit canned that baby right quick

The idea is good. Some of the big systems in Pfizer used the same idea.
There would be two big issues i would think for home use.
1. You would need water near your AC unit.
2. you would need good soft filtered water for it to not turn your AC unit into a mountain of calcium and lime.

yeah, issue two is the killer, especially here in florida. Our aquifers are all limestone.
