I'm considering purchasing a Prescott core, Celeron D 2.66 GHz
for video encoding machine with asus p4p800 MB
just wondering how these chips are as far as o'c in

Should be able to hit around 3.2ghz pretty easily(assuming you have good cooling, Prescotts are well named for a city in arizona..very very hot).

I have the same cpu, and it runs at 3.3ghz with stock fan/thermal solution. It never exceeds 45c and i live in florida, no lie.

If its a later revision it should hit 4Ghz with semi-decent cooling and ventilation; set FSB to 200 and give it a try.

I used to have the exact same combo. It would turn on at 4GHz but wasn't stable even overvolted and using an XP-120 with Panaflo. The thing with that motherboard (unless fixed in BIOS update) is that it has a FSB "hole" from 199Mhz down to somewhere in the 160's or so, where the board just won't POST, so my Deleron 330 will POST at 4GHz unstable, but wouldn't POST below that until the low 3GHz range.

My old old celeron D 2.4ghz would boot to bios at 3.6ghz thats about all, runs REALLY hot, something like 50C idle and 65 C load.
