Any idea how much a new power window assembly might run?

Warranty ended about 2-3 months ago

Fiancee was turning a corner while rolling down her window. It went down, but made a large clunk noise when she pressed up, and down she stays...

Any idea how much one of these might run? Taking it to the dealer at 10.

The window probably just needs to be put back on its track. The motor most likely still works fine. Automatic window repairs are difficult because the door requires specific alignment with the frame and the door panel must come off, which is not typically an easy thing to do. Additionally, door repairs are not critical to the operation of the vehicle yet they are tricky repairs to perform. For this reason, many mechanics do not like to repair the doors.

That's not necessarily true, I've found that door panels are generally pretty easy to remove. Generally you have a couple screws and door handle trim plates to remove and the door is held on by clips so you can just pry and it pops right off. Once you get the panel off, disconnect the wiring harnesses and then you will need to peel away a sheet of clear plastic, don't cut or tear it away just work it loose from the sticky putty that holds it on. The plastic is to protect the inner workings of the door from water. Once that is out of the way you can examine the window track and see if you can fix it or if it needs to be replaced.

I had a vehicle a couple years ago that the rear window stopped going up and down (of course they always do this when they are down and it's raining outside). The track and cable were all messed up so I had to buy a new one. I think it cost me about $110 for the part but to have the dealer do it would have been over $400.

I also put new speakers in the doors on my Maxima. Took me about an hour to replace all four speakers.

UPDATE:

Turns out it was the power window regulator (which in a 2001 tiburon is combined with the motor). $375 for parts and labor. :(
