Well, shoprt story. FOund a house that is fairly cheap. Looking at details, it has electric heat which is bad, especially since it's a 2600 sqft house. Expalins the low asking price. 2 floors. It's a pretty straight forward colonial style home. 1st and 2nd floors are equal in size.
I've done home renovation before and I'm not intimidated by the idea of putting in the ductwork, cutting holes in floors/ceiling to run ductwork to the attic, etc.
Just looking for ball park nubmers here.
How much would it cost to buy all of the hardwzare required to do heating and air conditioning?
Assuming, I do the pad for the AC unit and 80% of the ductwork and the wiring to the new thermostats, how much would it cost for someone else to do the rest? That includes electrical hookups for new equipment, new plumbing for hot water, etc.
I'd be doing an oil heating system.
THANKS,
Karl
EDIT: This is the home in question.. I figure I could low ball them and get it for under $400K. Once upgraded to full air, it's easily a $500K+ home. Probably in the $600K-$700K range. Have to talk to my agent about this though. Antoher factor
